Mont-Mégantic National Park via Escarpment Trail

Canada/Mont Mégantic, Mont-Mégantic National Park!

Mont Mégantic National Park is located in the southwest of Quebec;  about 3 hours drive east of Montreal. It has 14 trails.

Mont-Mégantic is the International Dark Sky Reserve and dedicated to eliminating light pollution and illuminating the sky with stars.

The park is known for sky-watching and it's one of the most sought-after stargazing destinations in Canada and in the world.

The Mont-Mégantic observatory is located on its summit.

Escarpment Trail is the smallest of the mountains in the massif, but not the least, the Pain-de-Sucre reveals numerous cliffs, narrow faults, overhanging rocks, lush mosses and lichens, and dizzying viewpoints.

There is a ridge in the park made up of seven peaks. The Mont-Mégantic summit is the highest peak with 1105 m high on this high plateau whose altitude varies between 450 and 600 m. It is the 16th highest peak in Quebec. The various dates estimate the age of the rocks at 125 million years.

Able to enjoy the sunset at Franceville sector via Escarpment Trail.
